One, like me, of average intellect, can easily get lost in his long sentences. I can say I read this extended essay, but cannot claim to fully understand except to suggest that he does believe, even if not expressed with clarity sufficient for isaiah berlin historical inevitability to grasp, that there are standards of behavior and action by whcih persons of the past and present can be evaluated.
